About
An adaptation of their hit Broadway musical, Animal Crackers brings the four Marx Brothers to the silver screen for the second time. Groucho stars as the famed explorer Captain Spaulding, whose return from Africa is being celebrated with a weekend party at the glamorous home of the wealthy Mrs Rittenhouse (Margaret Dumont). While the guests are distracted with festivities, Mrs Rittenhouse's daughter attempts to pull off an elaborate scheme with the help of Signor Emanuel Ravelli (Chico) and his assistant, 'The Professor' (Harpo). Featuring the unforgettable musical number 'Hooray for Captain Spaulding' (a song later used as theme music for Groucho's television show 'You Bet Your Life,'), Animal Crackers is a high-energy, wild-spirited comedy classic.
