About the Performance

Structured in three distinct sections, Khush Āmadīd interlaces diverse artistic traditions to create a layered gesture of welcome, reverence, and reflection.

The first section draws on the traditional Muslim art form of Mappillappattu, offering lyrical praise to Raja Ravi Varma, whose imagery has shaped both classical and popular visual culture.

The second offers an obeisance to the elements of nature through the codified movement languages of Indic temple and court dances.

The final section features a song that speaks of the ache of separation and the hope of reunion with the beloved (God), weaving imagery that bridges despair and anticipation.
