Participation and content

  • Entry to the Children’s Art Centre is free
  • Art Box for Kids includes a making activity, an artist video, an artwork display cabinet, a reading zone, and a seating area with soft furnishings
  • The current exhibition features a making activity involving card, pencil, glue, string, and alfoil
  • Pram parking is available outside the Children’s Art Centre. Prams are welcome in the activity spaces during quiet times or if occupied by a sleeping child
  • Parents’ rooms are available opposite the Park Level Children’s Art Centre space and in the Cinema Foyer on Level 1
  • For health and safety reasons, children must wear shoes in the Gallery

Accessibility features

  • Braille and large print guide
  • Drawing boards are available to support visitors who feel more comfortable using a different creative setup
  • The artist video is close captioned and has Auslan interpretation

Sensory aspects

  • The Children’s Art Centre can be busy on weekends and school holidays. For those who prefer a calmer environment, visiting on weekdays during the school term is often a quieter option
  • Art Box for Kids features a looping video with ambient sound
  • The Gallery air conditioning is set to 21°C to conserve the artworks. We recommend bringing a light jumper or jacket

Food and drink

  • Breastfeeding and bottle feeding are welcome anywhere in the Gallery
  • For the safety of artworks, food and drink cannot be consumed in the Gallery except by children seated in a pram

Capacity

  • Queuing to enter the Children’s Art Centre is occasionally required at peak times, such as the school holidays
